Building on Surgical Excellence
7/20/2016
GRANBURY, TX – To meet growing demand for high-quality surgical care, Lake Granbury Medical Center (LGMC) is renovating its surgical suites to create an additional operating room.
The $7.5 million expansion project is part of the hospital's comprehensive initiative to create much-needed surgical capacity for Hood, Somervell and Erath County residents. The increased size permits greater access to advanced surgical technology used in procedures at LGMC like joint replacement and robot-assisted surgery.
"Our investment in operating room capacity will improve our ability to accommodate the growing number of patients who seek our care," says Derrick Cuenca, LGMC’s Chief Executive Officer. "The result will be greater access to life-saving care close to home and an overall better experience for our patients."
The project will add 3,950 square feet of space on the back side of the hospital. It consists of three phases which will expand the current operating room capacity with a new surgical suite, add recovery bays, and renovate equipment storage space. All aspects of the project will be completed in a carefully-determined sequence to ensure there are no disruptions to patient care. Construction is underway and expected to last ten months.
At LGMC, patient care discharges grew by 5.8 percent during the past fiscal year. Surgical cases grew by 11.6 percent during the same period, from 2014 to 2015.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled Tuesday, August 2 at 9 a.m. The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact (807) 408-3237 or GranburyTXMarketing@chs.net.
