Lake Granbury Medical Center Named One of the Best Maternity Hospitals in the Country.
6/16/2022
Lake Granbury Medical Center has been selected as one of the Best Maternity Hospitals in the United States and one of only seven Texas hospitals chosen to receive the Five Ribbon designation by Newsweek for 2022.
"Our maternity staff are top-notch professionals," states Donald Howser, M.D., board-certified OB/GYN and maternity medical director. "They are dedicated to our patients and community, which is proof positive with this ranking by Newsweek. From our physicians, nurses, lactation specialists, and educators, our team here at LGMC is focused on the safety and comfort of our moms, babies, and family members during every step of pregnancy."
Lake Granbury Medical Center's maternity department delivered over 650 babies in 2021 and holds several other recognitions and certifications:
Perinatal Care Certified by the Joint Commission
Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Facility
Level II (Specialty Care) Maternal Care Designation
Level I Neonatal Care Designation
Texas 10 Step Member certified by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services
Internationally recognized by the IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) Care Award for the last four years.
In addition, the maternity department offers many educational services, including complimentary classes on breastfeeding, what to expect pre and post-childbirth, coping strategies for labor, car seat safety, and safe sleeping tips.
"Our maternity department provides a wide array of care from prenatal to postpartum, including high-risk pregnancies and advanced labor and delivery services," states Rebekah Butler, RN, director of women's services. "Our fully-equipped operating room is just steps away for any moms needing a cesarean section. LGMC babies are closely monitored by nursing staff and our team of pediatricians, and advanced technology helps our caregivers intervene faster if complications arise."
To ensure the quality and validity of the ranking, Newsweek and the data firm Statista based the evaluation on three data sources: a nationwide online survey in which hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals (e.g., neonatal care providers and OB/GYNs) were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals; medical key performance indicator data relevant to maternity care (e.g., a hospital's rate of cesarean births); and patient satisfaction data (e.g., how patients rated a hospital's medical staff for responsiveness and communication).
"We are honored to receive this recognition. It underscores the commitment and caring that our staff and physicians have for moms, babies, and families," said Curt Junkins, chief executive officer for Lake Granbury Medical Center.
